Leading Aircraft Engineering TechnicianRoyal Navy Feb 2008 - Jul 2018Yeovil• Managed teams of up to 10 avionic engineers maintaining 3 Wildcat aircraft ensuring maintenance is prioritised and carried out effectively and efficiently during periods of reduced manpower, resulting in the squadron executing more flying than any other Wildcat squadron, allowing aircrew to achieve further flying objectives from Yeovilton whilst most engineering personnel were deployed to Arizona, USA. • Carried out fault diagnosis logically and effectively to successfully identify multiple areas of cable damage to the aircraft fire suppression system, resulting in minimal aircraft downtime and increased serviceability. • Planned, packed, managed and maintained test equipment, tooling and ground equipment required for detachment on board HMS Ocean, supporting 3 Wildcat AH helicopters and 30 engineers. Coordinated with various agencies including the Calibration Section and Tool Control Section at HMS Heron. This ensured equipment was readily available on request, reducing aircraft downtime and allowing the aircraft to successfully deliver 60 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the British Virgin Islands post the catastrophic Hurricane Irma.• Carried out multiple quality audit reports of internal departments, ensuring standards and practices are maintained in accordance with regulatory publications, providing recommendations for the heads of department when required resulting in new processes being implemented. • Liaised with Delivery Teams and Defence Organisations (Leonardo Helicopters, DE&S) to overcome faults with the Electro Optical Designator System. Used effective fault diagnosis and system knowledge and concluded software upgrades were required for all Wildcat AH Tactical Processors fleet wide.
