Chief financial officer role of the College responsible for all Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, Physical Facilities, and Auxiliary functions. Forecasted annual revenue and constructed financial models based on strategic enrollment plans to realize College’s Strategic Plan while operating in the black each year. Presented financial information regularly to President, Board of Trustees, and State Board of Regents. Supervised 9 direct reports, 3 of which were located at remote branch campus.ENTERPRISE IMPACT:• Inflated College rainy day fund from 5% of annual operating budget to 9% over a 4 year period while simultaneously lowering the College’s debt ratio by 100 basis points.• Negotiated new revenue bonds to refinance existing bonds saving $1.2 million in finance payments.• Chaired the Sevier Valley Center Board uncovering one case of fraud and prescribed operating changes that derived $100,000 swing (30% increase) from $70,000 net loss to $30,000 net profit within 1 year.• Spearheaded a Financial Analysis Dashboard for senior administration to weekly monitor tuition revenue, receivables, cash flow, as well as other KPI’s and performance metrics.• Identified construction cost savings of over 10% for 2 new buildings costing $26 million and $6 million and ensured both projects came in on budget.• Designed a 4 month leadership academy to shape and train current and future supervisors based on strengths-based leadership style.

Governed all accounting and budget functions including directing the College through all external audits, production of annual budget, management of its $30 million investment portfolio, reporting of all tax filings, and implementation of internal controls. Supervised 14 staff.ENTERPRISE IMPACT:• Designed new AR collection policies and procedures that reduced write-offs by more than 50%.• Successfully conducted the College through 3 consecutive clean audit reports with no external findings.• Optimized the return in investment portfolio and outperformed market averages by 1% over 3 year period.• Implemented new College-wide policies for cash handling, PCI, asset management, and contract signing authority, as well as revamped policies for procurement and travel reimbursement.

Directed all Internal Audit functions of College. Presented audit reports to senior administration, Board of Trustees, and State Board of Regents which provided recommendations for improvements to internal controls, operating efficiencies, and compliance with laws, rules and regulations. ENTERPRISE IMPACT:• Instituted College’s initial Internal Audit Department by generating its Internal Audit Charter, audit programs, checklists, and work paper templates.• Aided Music Department by urging suggestions to cut operating costs by 25% to stop operating in the deficit.• Discovered College was not in compliance with certain requirements of Title IX as established by the Office for Civil Rights which culminated in creation of Title IX Office and subsequent hiring of 2 full-time staff.

Helped clients achieve and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, improve internal controls, and reduce financial and operational risk. Supervised audit teams of 3 to 7 associates on audit engagements of external clients in banking, manufacturing, software development, SOX 404, and construction. ENTERPRISE IMPACT:• Proposed changes in 3rd party sales commission contracts that resulted in $2 million annual boost in net income, helping a public company healthcare manufacturer become profitable for the 1st time in several years.• Prepared 3 year restatement of consolidated financial statements for a large manufacturing public company with 26 foreign and domestic entities subsequent to the discovery of fraud by its external auditors.• Led multiple engagement teams in turnaround efforts that produced large write-ups on client audits that had large write-offs in prior year audits.

Audited Bank’s cash handling and loan origination procedures, as well as compliance with BSA, AML, FDIC and FHEO regulations, allowing management to remain in conformity while continuing to grow its net income.

Processed individual and small business tax returns for over 300 clients and ran payroll, calculated payroll taxes and maintained the books for 20 small businesses.
