Mechanical Engineer
I was a mechanical engineer, working in the Sensors and Systems division of Crane Aerospace. We built high-fidelity proximity sensors, pressure sensors, fuel flow and power systems; basically all of the inner-guts of an aircraft or satellite that you likely forget exist. I was the mechanical engineer for a sensor system that will be deployed in the revamped B2 aircraft. I was also responsible for daily sustaining tasks that were required to optimize the manufacturing flow. This included everything from testing new supplier quality, providing root cause analysis for failures, updating drawings and process flows, and much more. Using AutoDesk Inventor Pro as primary CAD software.
Project Management Lead
A mobile app development startup that focuses on changing how entrepreneurs enter the mobile app industry. I was responsible for managing a large development team, independent design team and project management team responsible for building 20+ mobile applications at a time. I was also responsible for scaling the businesses technical infrastructure to support the development of more mobile apps.
Aerospace Research Associate
Completing work on a collaborative effort to model the fluid-thermal-structural interactions of a 3D hypersonics vehicle. This work was done concurrently with the Air Force Research Lab.
Afrl Scholar Research Associate
A Universities Space Research Association (USRA) opportunity with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. I was participating in the Air Armament Scholars and Il supported the High Speed Fluid Structural Interactions and Reduced-Order Modeling project.I created a 12+ parameter sampling space in MATLAB, a FEM deformation scheme in Fortran and CFD scripts in Fun3D to capture the CFD and FEM relationship for the fluid-thermal-structural interactions of a 3D, hypersonic vehicle. This led to developing Kriging and POD reduced-order models to optimize surface panels in hypersonic flow on defense vehicles.
Graduate Research Associate
Working with Dr. Jack McNamara in the Multi-Physics Interactions Research Group modeling the fluid, thermal and structural responses of surface panels in hypersonic flow for defense development.I was responsible for utilizing MATLAB, Fortran and other tools to generate a surrogate model that could be used for the successful design of hypersonic vehicles.
Interiors Engineer Intern
I gained a lot of experience with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, design for manufacturing, process optimization, and received a CATIA certification. I learned a lot about working with manufacturing and optimizing processes/designs for manufacturing. I was responsible for investigating root cause issues with all 737 sidewalls and implementing solutions by utilizing 3D printing, rapid prototyping and design testing. This also included a process analysis and process improvement of current manufacturing techniques.I successfully designed a tool (patent pending) to assist in sidewall manufacturing and save Boeing $30,000 per year.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Working with Dr. Jason Dreyer and Michael Krak in the Vibrations and Acoustics Laboratory to analyze dynamic loads applied to torque driven spline shaft on a research project sponsored by Honda. My responsibilities were to set up experimental spline shaft, run test procedures, collect data, process the data using MATLAB and analyze the data with the rest of the team. I was also responsible for optimizing the LabVIEW software used to test the spline shafts.
Mass Properties Intern
I was a part of the Advanced Aircraft Program, Mass Properties Department and was responsible for working with the stress design engineers on optimizing parts for best strength-to-weight ratios.I developed proficient algorithms using VBA for analyzing weight and mass properties from CATIA in order to generate accurate reports for stress engineers. I then integrated a hydraulic fluid weight calculator into company-wide mass properties software. I gained extensive experience with Design Engineering, CATIA, VBA, Access, Lean Design, and Optimization of Design.
University Registrar Assistant
Collect classroom data daily to be used for future classroom renovation, furniture orders, cleaning and maintenance schedules.Responsible for ensuring consistent classroom inventory on a day to day basis.Update university databases with collected information.
