Sometimes you hear a story that is so obviously compelling and know that you simply have to be part of it. Steve Fodor told me such a story in May of 1995. I quit my job 3 days later, joined a truly great early management team and took on the challenge of making a business out of the GeneChip technology. It was a thrill ride! The technology moved at an incredible pace lead by an amazing technical and scientific team and we cruised through $100M in revenue and took the company public in April 1996. Through it all I had the opportunity to hire and lead the absolutely best commercial team in life sciences.It was a privilege to get to work with and learn from so many talented and passionate people who remain great friends and have continued to do great things after Affymetrix.
