We have changed how science is done. But Ingenuity is only just getting started. The Ingenuity products and services transcend the research and development markets and are quickly becoming the standard for analysis and interpretation of molecular diagnostic tests. And with the acquisition by Qiagen, Ingenuity has a great parent for expanding the business across the full spectrum of research, development and clinical applications.I am leaving Ingenuity in the extremely capable hands of an fantastic executive team. It has been a genuine privilege and honor to work with everyone on the INGENUITY team- brilliant, hard working, passionate and fun.Thank you to each and everyone of you for believing and taking on the challenge of building something revolutionary and great.

Sometimes you hear a story that is so obviously compelling and know that you simply have to be part of it. Steve Fodor told me such a story in May of 1995. I quit my job 3 days later, joined a truly great early management team and took on the challenge of making a business out of the GeneChip technology. It was a thrill ride! The technology moved at an incredible pace lead by an amazing technical and scientific team and we cruised through $100M in revenue and took the company public in April 1996. Through it all I had the opportunity to hire and lead the absolutely best commercial team in life sciences.It was a privilege to get to work with and learn from so many talented and passionate people who remain great friends and have continued to do great things after Affymetrix. I had the great fortune of being able to spend 2+ years with a great group of people working on fascinating problems for fun clients. A fantastic learning experience but it was very clear to me that I was never meant to be a great management consultant.
