Reporting to the Director of Cultivation, I rebuilt the R&D department from the remains of the genetics and breeding team with new goals and a roadmap focused on integration, communication, and accurate data-collection. I interviewed, hired, and trained additional team members with special emphasis on proper SOP habits, safety regulations and compliance. I currently oversee an R&D team of 4 with express focus on problem identification and integral solutions, including testing and development of new tools and processes with multiple departments, continued research into breeding, and ongoing experiment design, execution, and analysis resulting in successful phenotypic and chemotypic selections. Key accomplishments include:• Reviewing Breeding Program remains and organizing data into accessible components, clearing excess experiments, and curating future research.• Development of Selection Tracker Task Manager, an automated database documenting accomplished breeding tasks (plant movement, transplant completion, seed germination, etc.) and displaying automated results with key data analysis and scheduling functions, leading to 100% process completion rate. • Work with multiple departments to establish data-collection SOPs and automated databases, including a Garden Tracker for the Cultivation Director.• Lead facility tours for new employees, occasionally investors, educating them on overall functions of Processing, Cultivation, Packaging, and R&D.• Communicate across departments during weekly production meetings to refine and unify broader R&D goals of: assistance, problem solving, alternative tasks set by GM, maintaining germplasm health, and planning longterm department development.•Network with vendors to maintain an updated lab space, schedule maintenance, increase seed inventory, and build positive relationships with academic, industrial, and local professionals.

Established with Seahunter Therapeutics during the merger with TILT Holdings, Inc., our genetics team was brought in to streamline and create new germplasm, develop and optimize SOPs, and continue research in the medical application of cannabis to the human body. Individually, I focused on building continuity in SOPs, inter-departmental communication, successful experiment completion, notation, and analysis, and assisting the Program Director. Key accomplishments include:•Represented TILT research at Cannabis Science Conference, Santa Monica, CA 2018.•Built lab from scratch: consulting with facility engineering and construction, equipment purchasing, vendor networking and demoing, budgeting, and inventory maintenance for accurate plant health testing and compliance, etc.•Developing portfolio of collaborative research in cannabis' current medical applications, reaching out to colleagues and peers for study results and published work; presenting research and data to investors; finding correlations to breeding and market potential.

The molecular breeding team developed our own business platform and began our first contract working with Lifestyle Delivery Systems (LDS), where I focused my research on pharmaceutical applications of cannabis to the human body. I also trained employees in lab safety and developed safety and compliance protocols. I developed SOPs for oil extraction and other systems from scratch through observation, research, and application. I also assisted in the construction of our lab, and curation of equipment and materials.

Through telecommunications and independent contracts, we have been helping Masdar Institute of Science and Technology's Sustainable Bioenergy Research Consortium develop SOPs and implement our breeding program from afar for the successful cultivation of Salicornia as an alternative biofuel.

Under the direct supervision of Dr. Daniele Piomelli and joint partnership with Cultivation Technology Inc. (CTI), I was provided lab space at UCI while also working with the rest of the team to apply our breeding program to CTI’s plants and develop experimental trials and SOP protocols.

My primary responsibilities were to assist the Senior Research Associate and acting Facility Manager with science research, optimization, data collection, facility management, and breeding strategy implementation.Successes:● Conducted 10-week density trial experiment for increased production●Initiated and managed optimization experiments on the roto-evaporator and CO2 oil-extractor for oil production● Conducted cuttings and seedling experiments for faster cultivation● Germplasm cultivation, preservation, and maintenance● Successfully assisted in management of multiple teams within the organizationThe Story:I was flown up to Seattle, WA for a two week interview in the middle of February of 2016. The project was a very progressive platform set on standardizing Cannabis sativa for nutraceutical development. While progressive, I accepted the job in the hopes of moving Cannabis from recreation to a more standardized plant for the nutraceutical industry with the belief that, at that stage, it could successfully help millions of people.After I accepted, I started to commute every two week to the area to work until I moved from San Diego, CA to Tacoma, WA in the middle of March 2016.

Primarily responsible for both Molecular Biology and Analytical Chemistry Pipelines. My Tasks:●Performing and interpreting chemical and molecular biology laboratory assays●Organizing and executing greenhouse and field sample collection●Assisting in developing and optimizing laboratory pipelines●Assisting with development of laboratory Standard Operating Procedures●Maintaining laboratory inventory and managing waste streams●Assisting with greenhouse operations and germplasm management when neededThe Story:It started off from an interview in July of 2014 after being introduced to Yulex through Biophase. It was a very casual interview, we talked about where I went to college, and my burrito rolling skills (I worked for a Mexican restaurant in college and could roll a burrito in 8 sec). It was a great interview and I quickly started as a general lab tech at Yulex. My responsibilities included making labels, assisting with sample collection, and whatever else was needed. Soon after, I started to assist in Flow Cytometry(FCM) and Accelerated Solvent Extraction(ASE) to study rubber percentage and nuclei acquisition samples. For ASE I work with Acetone, Hexane, and Toluene to complete rubber assays in a short amount of time. For FCM, having speed for liquid handling with multipipette was the name of the game. As I assisted, I slowly started to take on more and more responsibility until I was running each pipelines' experiments and analysis single handedly. In June of 2015 I was given a salary and promoted to Research Associate and my responsibilities became the ones shown above. Soon after, I developed a new pipeline for Pollen Viability in which I used specific dyes to see fluorescence of pollen grains. The cross pollination of research and agriculture, along with our hard working team, have made all of these experiences possible. I enjoyed working with dedicated people to create an environmental impact in a positive scientific way.

Personally responsible for conducting drug tests within a probation office, working with probationers and parolees to determine legal action. Position required detail and observation skills while interacting with clients, as well as respect, discretion, and confidentiality while efficiently analyzing and interpreting test results. Proper urinary collection, disposal, and sanitation protocols were followed. Communication with probation staff was essential while working with sensitive client information and was made possible through organized records and direct communication. My experience at the probation office was very eye opening and changed my view of what career I wanted to take up in the future.
