Effect of Upper Surface Flaps on Wind Turbine BladesAerodynamic investigation into the application of upper surface flaps on wind turbine blades. • Designed CATIA model of blade section that was modeled using rapid prototyping. • Developed a pitch rig to rotate the blade through 360 degrees and developed corresponding LabVIEW code to control the MicroLYNX and stepper motor. • Blade section was used to test various flap configurations and flap positions in an open circuit wind tunnel; recorded force measurements for the different configurations.
