Biology has always been my primary interest, ever since I was a curious little kid walking the shores of Cape May, New Jersey. Watching osprey dive bomb for fish while standing twenty feet from wild dolphins almost daily tends to trigger a sense of wonderment. When nature is that close to you, at arm's reach daily, it takes hold of you. I'd say that wanting intrigue developed into a need the day that I found a white lobster in a jetty - imagine the shock on an eight-year-old's face. Since those early days, I've made it a priority to learn everything I could about the ecological field to one day make a career out of it. The organic love I had for biology drove me towards a Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University, learning from some of the best and most respected scientists in the ecological field.Surely, while you're in college, you have to find some way to pay the bills. I'd like to think I blended my interest in marine science with my motormouth while waiting tables at a fast paced seafood restaurant in Cape May. Table service is easy - you just have to know how to talk to people while running around like a crazy person, juggling twelve things at once. You're not just the guy that brings stuff to the table. As a waiter, your job is to smash the barrier between a vehicle for food and a real person. Letting my personality shine through to each and every customer and coworker I could during a full-house dinner rush was my top priority.I consider myself a fun-loving, creative individual (I was a hobbyist musician in a rock band during college, eating up stages like pizza) who likes to work hard while whistling through it, and I'd comfortably say my childlike enthusiasm, inquisitiveness, and creative joviality have maintained a permanent residence at my core.When I'm not thinking about pelagic brown tides or bioluminescent dinoflagellates, I'm probably playing Dark Souls, nerding out about the differences between Jimmy Page and Jack White's guitar playing, or watching soccer.My specialties include a well-rounded understanding of ecology, microbiology, and environmental science, a hardwired ability to multitask and work in a team, quickly learning how to operate equipment, lab techniques including culturing, proficient microscope use, safety and sterility measures, and bookkeeping, and seven years of customer service acumen.
