I am currently studying Product Design Engineering at Swinburne University. Through this course I am learning aspects of design at both an aesthetic and practical level. I have gained knowledge of CAD design and use Solidworks regularly. The core engineering focus in this course is Mechanical, with dynamics and materials science being two key aspects of learning. Although engineering and design are often spaced apart, this course is teaching me to apply the two hand in hand.As part of my studies and as an extra curricular venture, I took part in Swinburne's Formula SAE team. In the team we designed and manufactured an electric race car to compete against other universities' teams. To further my understanding of engineering, I completed a year long placement with ERNTEC Pty Ltd which gave me a deeper appreciation for practicality and attention to detail whilst also thinking outside the box.I am to complete the remainder of my studies this year, with my major capstone assessment being a design project. This is a self driven project that spans right from the conceptualization of ideas right through to making a product ready for prototyping and manufacturing.
