From June to August I held a summer internship as part of a UK Government Internship Scheme with Newcastle University which was a research role focused on developing a secure application of our choice, my project was using the Android platform to look at the security on NFC cards and how they could be used for future data storage as a replacement to USB’s as a more secure option by having authentication built onto them.

My role was to repair devices of all types from traditional desktop computers to games consoles. I built up a number of problem solving skills over the years by innovating new ways to fix a problem. In addition to repairing computers I had the responsibility of running the shop on my own on weekends which meant dealing with customers and stock in addition to my primary role.
