Facilitator
CurrentEach semester I have the privilege to serve as an HLC Facilitator. Through this role I help to guide participants through the program by mentoring them on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. These practices are incorporated into large and small group active learning activities. I foster effective communication and collaboration amongst participants in both these large and small group settings in order to instill the practices in them allowing them to build upon their leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Each week, I co-lead a group of 8 participants, facilitating discussion amongst them and speaking in one-on-one conversations to encourage authenticity, compassion, and empathy so that they may begin to form and embrace their personal leadership identity. Through a 15 minute TED talk style presentation I combine one of the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership with a personal experience to give a testimonial example of how I have turned my leadership identity into tangible actions. This gives participants an example of how the lessons of HLC are revealed in my personal life, inspiring them to be proactive in building and demonstrating their developing leadership identity.
