My name is Jake Tyson, and I'm a 4th -year computer science student studying at Lancaster university.I am keen on coding and software development with experience in languages such as c, java, javascript, HTML, python and c#. I have worked on many coding projects throughout my education. For example, creating a paint-like application in java has allowed me to gain experience in software development within a team whilst gaining valuable skills such as using GitHub in team settings and organisation skills to meet deadlines set by other team members.Another project I created was a FAT16 file reader written in C. This allowed the user to upload a FAT16 file, and my program would read the contents and display them on the screen, allowing the user to navigate through the file system to a file of their choice. This significantly increased my understanding of file systems. Whilst at Lancaster university, I have partaken in many different societies, such as mountaineering, where I have learnt valuable ropes skills to keep me and others around safe while climbing and hiking. I have also been able to teach these skills to the newer members, significantly increasing my confidence and leadership skills.As a certified lifeguard, I have developed strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. I am skilled in performing rescues, providing first aid and emergency response, and maintaining a safe environment for swimmers. I have excellent observation and communication skills and can remain calm and focused under pressure.
