Working on the project has taught me many valuable skills such as collecting data, processing data, analyzing data, over prolonged periods of time. I have gained skills using programs such as ImageJ, and excel. Additionally I have gained experience in lab settings doing precise measurements on thousands of samples and using plate readers. Some of the side projects I worked on consisted of measuring the effects of off-target pesticides on beneficial insects with the new technology; trapping and collecting Flat Headed Borers for further understanding of the species and their spread in the state of Tennessee; and measuring moisture levels of different substrates. I have had the privilege of traveling to many nurseries in the state of Tennessee working on these projects giving me a better understanding of how the industry works. Show less
