Each platform has almost half a million users, so we needed to switch to heavy duty tools, such as Python (Sklearn, NumPy, Matplotlib, SciPy) run on an external cluster. Including parallelization of the most computationally intensive tasks across the whole cluster.

Most of the work revolved around a data-science efficacy-review project for John Fallon, the CEO, and Sir Michael Barber, special advisor to Pearson. We used R run on a server to do clean, model and validate data from several Pearson's online English-teaching platforms. Including cooperation with teams in Boston and Poland.Additional work included: programming using D3.js and some of its abstractions (NVD3, MorrisJS etc.); using ElasticSearch to query a Hadoop Database; then including the written calls and some basic functions in JS UI for a business intelligence tool for Pearson's internal use.
