Due to this, the water header pressure started dropping drastically. Upon knowing about the situation, I guided the control engineer to the action required to save the rest of the plant without any further negative consequences. Upon further study, I have identified that the breaker fault signal was not connected to the actual protection of the pump. This led to further realization that the rest of the units were the same and all have been corrected accordingly.

Liaising with maintenance personnel and outside contractors for any plant activity and ensuring all safety rules were being adhered to.Highlights of Achievement:• Due to very foggy and humid condition, one of the Gas Turbine units tripped due to a blocked air intake system. Since all the units (3 Gas turbine, 2 steam turbine, and 4 desalination units) are interconnected, all have been affected by loss of energy. To save the rest of the plant, I instructed the water control engineer to safely reduce steam consumption and shift the power units to load control.• Saved the company approximately USD$33,000/year by safely and efficiently reducing the outage time from seven days to five days. Led a project team for conducting yearly maintenance of Gas turbine/Steam Generator and Desalination units.• Identified incipient problems relating to vibrations that cause creeping damage to equipment by conducting extensive studies on vibration monitoring, ultrasonic testing, and thermal imaging.
