I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree for Construction Engineering Technology at the University of North Texas. Here at the university I have taken several courses related to my major, such as Introduction to Construction Contracting, Introduction to Construction Materials, Construction Technology, just to name a few. Therefore I am familiar with the basics of the industry.Until recently, I worked for the Family Joint Venture Foundation as a warehouse manager. At this position I supervised employees ensuring the company’s warehouse was in order. Also here I was a driver, where I drove the company vans to several poor residential areas throughout the DFW feeding the residents in need. Here at the University of North Texas I am member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., where I serve as the President of the Phi Gamma Chapter. Colleagues at work often refer to me as a dependable worker who continuously defuses troubled situations. When problems come about colleagues tend to look towards me for advice because of my ingenuity. Also, I’d rather work diligently to finish a task correctly versus rushing and not completing something leaving a client unsatisfied.I plan on entering the construction industry, focusing more so in the residential field. Starting off, I want to work as a general contractor for a huge construction company. Eventually I plan to move up to hold positions such as project manager and architect to strengthen my leadership skills. The ultimate goal is to run my own construction company building residential subdivisions.
