I joined Burr & Forman's Corporate and Tax group in 2012 after practicing for many years with Meadows Collier law firm in Dallas, Texas. My practice includes tax planning, corporate transactions and M&A, tax controversy and litigation, international tax, and international compliance. Over the years my practice has become both national and international in scope, and has expanded beyond the tax and corporate arenas into related areas. For example, I also help clients comply with anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws (FCPA), export controls (EAR & ITAR), and sanctions (OFAC compliance) laws and regulations. I am also a member of the Alabama State Bar (Tax Section), Texas State Bar (Tax Section), Dallas Bar Association, and the American Bar Association (Tax and International Law Sections).

My practice involved tax planning for entrepreneurs and their closely-held businesses and all aspects of business tax planning from entity formation and acquisition through wealth transfers and estate planning. My tax planning practice included corporate taxation, pass-through entity taxation, and an ever-increasing amount of international taxation. I was also extensively involved in litigation related to individual, business, international, and estate tax controversies. At Meadows Collier, I represented dozens of taxpayers in the IRS's Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Initiatives for taxpayers with unreported foreign entities and bank accounts. I have also been involved in challenging international and domestic penalties imposed by the IRS at the audit level and in IRS Appeals. My corporate practice included business planning for partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies, S corporations, and individuals.

At this position, I helped IRS Chief Counsel Attorneys prepare for Tax Court, research related tax issues, and advise Appeals Officers.
