Social Science Teacher & Varsity Basketball CoachLoyola High School Jun 2005 - Jun 2021Currently teaching Introduction to Economics and African American Studies courses to senior level students at Loyola High School. The African American Studies class, a new course to the curriculum, was developed in my first year of teaching through a written proposal that was approved through the University of California course approval process. Elected member of Loyola Faculty Senate, as well as Loyola’s Student Discipline Board.As the Head Varsity Basketball Coach, I have helped guide the team to three league titles, two appearances in CIF Southern Section Semifinals, a CIF Southern Section runner up. We have also been invited the last three seasons to the CIF State Tournament, winning the Loyola’s first state level playoff game in school history in 2009. Overall record as a coach is 128-49, which includes a year of 8-18 where our team was decimated with injuries. In 2009, I was awarded the National Double Goal Coach of Year Award by the Positive Coach Alliance, CIF Division IIA Coach of Year, as well as being the subject of a featured article in the Los Angeles Times is 2009. This past season, the Cubs accumulated a 25-6 record including winning the CIF Division I-A title, a post season Top 10 in the state ranking and another Coach of the Year Award. I have helped coach players that have went on to play collegiately at Kansas, University of California at Berkeley, University of California at Davis, Syracuse, Kansas State, Mercer University, Georgetown University, American University and University of Pennsylvania. -

CoachNike Elite Youth Basketball Jun 2012 - Jun 2013Selected to Coach in Nike's Elite 100 Camp.The first skill development event of the summer will focus on the nation’s best underclassmen in St. Louis, at the NIKE Elite 100, known previously as the NIKE Hoop Jamboree. Featuring many of the best instructors and elite high school coaches in the country, this event helps build a foundation of the knowledge of the game for years to come. The goal for the NIKE Elite 100 is to give the best players the opportunity to develop their skills and to grow their game to heights never imagined.
