My name is Jamal Tyre Johnson and I am a History major with a concentration in Secondary Education. I am about to complete my senior year at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Longwood University is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the country. The Teacher Preparation Program at Longwood University is renowned for its molding of educators. I have completed my first practicum of 40 hours and will complete my second practicum this fall. My senior year at Longwood consists of courses in education, classroom management, and content area literacy. This Spring, I will be completing my student teaching. In my three years at Longwood I have become a Citizen Leader. I have learned critical thinking skills to employ in my community and classroom. I plan to advance my students commitment to learning and leadership. The themes of selflessness and personal integrity that I have learned at Longwood will be at the forefront of the culture of my classroom. While attending Longwood, my professors and colleagues have helped me gather the skills and values needed to create the new generation of Citizen Leaders.
