Jamal Arif is a seasoned senior Faculty cum Business Executive who for over 30 years has provided vision & leadership to both the hi–tech industry in USA & academic worlds in Pakistan & UAE. He has assumed various business building roles in growing corporate franchises across geographies & in introducing innovative techniques in teaching.Jamal has used his unique experience to innovate & bring new pedagogical methods to his teaching especially in Entrepreneurship courses. He has motivated his students to actually implement their business plans through pilot runs. The excitement generated through these practical exercises has resulted in students thinking of starting their entrepreneurial ventures after graduation. During the dot come era, Jamal used his Entrepreneurial acumen to establish and manage relatively smaller size Venture Funds in California to invest in local start-ups.As an experienced Harvard case method teacher, Jamal has conducted workshops on “Discussion based Leadership methodology at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia & NUST (National Univ of Science & Tech), Islamabad, Pakistan. Before donning the academic garb,Jamal worked in influential capacities at Sun Microsystems , Fujitsu , Hynix Electronics, Mitsubishi Electronics, and Hitachi America Limited managing in general, a product portfolio of over $300M in annual sales. He introduced several innovative systems to create a "customer-centric" sales culture. Jamal taught Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Creativity plus Marketing at UAE University (UAEU) in Al Ain. Earlier, Jamal taught at LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan) as an ‘Associate Professor’ for a total of over nine years. After retiring from LUMS, Jamal was called on by Etisalat to teach different management subjects to their Executives at their academies in Dubai, Tanzania and Afghanistan. Jamal has a BSEE & an MBA. He attended HARVARD Business School as a ‘Visiting Scholar’.
