About Jamie Meurant

The Whitsundays has been my humble home for over 22 successful years after moving from Brisbane where I excelled in Food & Beverage including customer service, barista, bartending and cooking. Since then I have spent 18 years growing in many diverse roles in Resorts, Tourism and Sales. Beginning on island resorts which I have revisited over the years. It all started at the bottom in the commercial kitchens, then quickly climbing through the restaurants to the maitre d’. This led to moving into and excelling in front office reservations, night audit, reception, tour sales and island hosting. My next role was to become the Assistant Front Office and Duty Manager at a larger resort nearby. Experiences here covered the running of the hotel, security and radio communications, as well as other unique roles, including crew on a commercial sailing catamaran to coordinating medical airlift evacuations as a resort first aid officer.Years later I return to the resort which had transformed into a smaller boutique-sized as the Assistant Resort Manager. This role was extremely hands-on managing and working in all departments from reception, housekeeping, gardening, maintenance, bartending, kitchen, marine and vessels, marketing and accounting.I have spent many years in hotels, hostels and travel businesses predominantly in the main street of Airlie Beach including Koala Resort Backpackers, Whitsunday Wanderers Resort, Beaches Backpackers & Beaches Travel, Base and Nomads Resort & Mad Travel.
