"Engage, equip and empower the world through the Word of God is my charge." That is the statement and life's calling of Pastor Jamel Washington Carelock. From the age of 5 until 9 he endured child abuse and it should become increasingly clear why God called Jamel at the age of 10. His life experiences nurtured his unique call to the ministry and honed his distinct ability to transcend tradition in his delivery of the gospel, in order to reach people of different backgrounds, cultures and denominations.Pastor Carelock is the product of having received primary and secondary education from private schools. He pursued formal education and has received his bachelors degree in business administration. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. In 2012, Pastor Carelock was appointed Campus Pastor of Community of Hope Church in Bakersfield, CA. After serving that congregation for almost 2 years he moved to Washington, DC and started his career as a management consultant.Pastor Carelock currently serves as the Founder & Senior Pastor of Leap Church in Baltimore, MD.Pastor Carelock continues to advance the Kingdom of God with a vision of "Love Like Jesus, Live Like Jesus and Lead Like Jesus." Through his ministry many lives have been transformed and are advancing the Kingdom of God. Pastor Carelock is quick to acknowledge that although he is grateful for the places God has taken him and the ministries that have opened their doors to him, nothing compares to being a father to his son, Jamel Jr.Wherever God takes Pastor Carelock he is committed to serve with passion, power and humility.
