Paramedic
CurrentResponds to emergency calls as an ambulance driver or attendant.Performs necessary rescue work, administers necessary emergency medical care, and transports persons to appropriate medical facilities.Starts and maintains intravenous infusion; administers various solutions, drugs, intravenous injections.Performs gastric suction and pulmonary ventilation and related skills and techniques.Maintains ambulance, equipment, and supplies in proper working order.Performs related work as necessary.Acts as Preceptor and Shift Sergeant as required.Gives talks on emergency medical services at schools.Conducts tours of station as requested.Cleans ambulances and stations.Studies street and road patterns of the County.Participates in a continuous training program in technical medical work and in ambulance service and operation.Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.
