Henry Blakely Landscapes is a design and construction landscape practice, specialising in high-end residential work. My role is varied with both office based design work and on-site landscaping.I am responsible for drafting a range of landscape plans and drawings prior to construction. I am then able to see through our designs to reality by working as a landscaper undertaking planting and construction.I am also involved in many other aspects of the business, ranging from: pricing upcoming jobs, invoicing, IT and contributing to PR and marketing.

Barnes Walker is a highly respected and creative landscape architecture practice based in North West England that provides a full range of landscape services, specialising in historic garden conservation, high-end garden design and urban master planning.I was a valued member of the team, involved in the design process from the sketch concept stages through to planning applications and construction, assisting with tasks such as the production of plans, sections, planting plans and construction details. I was also involved in the production of written documentation such as Landscape Management Plans, client progress reports and invoices.At the start of my employment with Barnes Walker I spent three months working on-site as a landscape operative, undertaking tasks such as soil preparation, planting and turfing.

As part of my MA in Landscape Architecture I undertook a 3 month placement at BDP's Manchester office. I undertook a variety of tasks including:• researching planting mixes for an urban park• working out drainage strategy for a large area of hard landscape in the public realm• rendering plans and visualisations in Photoshop• drawing up line work in AutoCAD• creating diagrams in Illustrator• assisting with fee calculationI enjoyed working in a fast paced multidisciplinary practice and gained a wealth of experience in a short space of time.
