I am passionate about the efficient recycling of tires and plastics and have spent the past 33 years in the tire recycling industry in North America and around the world. I have been instrumental in establishing turnkey cryogenic tire recycling systems- 5 in Canada, 5 in the US, 2 in Japan, as well as Mexico, Italy, Portugal, Wales, Switzerland and Sharjah, UAE. I am well known around the world as a leading expert in the tire recycling industry and value added technologies that can utilize the rubber output from these recycling operations. I am a graduate in Economics and Business from the University of Guelph, and from there moved on to obtain my Chartered Accountancy designation with Deloitte’s in Toronto. While in Toronto, I obtained my MBA from York University.Prior to the tire recycling industry, I also spent a year as a tax specialist with Deloitte’s in Kitchener. I co-founded Recovery Technologies Inc. in 1989 and served as its president for 8 years.I started RTI Cryogenics Inc. In 2005, I left Recovery and began the operation of RTI Cryogenics on a full time basis. RTI Cryo has grown rapidly from that very small beginning and recorded sales in excess of $23M CDN for the fiscal year ended in January 2010. Through my connections and foresight, I have worked to help develop and patent a very unique technology for the blending of recycled tire rubber with recycled plastics, and then worked to incorporate a complete turnkey plastic recycling system into our total package.I have lived in Cambridge since 1971, and have been involved in many local volunteer activities such as Chair of the Economic Development Committee of Cambridge Council (5 years), Chair of the Selection Committee of the Cambridge Sports Banquet, Chair of Cambridge Task Force on Municipal Restructuring, and a Director of Cambridge (Preston/Hespeler) Rotary Club. I have taught accounting at both the College and the University level.
