• Developed and commercialized light-filtration nanomaterial composites for food and beverage packaging.• Collaborated with leading plastics manufacturers to develop the world’s first transparent light-blocking PET.• Managed the development of nanoparticle composites from initial concept to scaled manufacturing.• Developed a surface plasmon polariton Raman spectrometer for detection of viral and bacterial pathogens.• Constructed prototype spectrometers using thin films and a laser table for biomolecule detection.• Created a nearest neighbor ensemble algorithm for classifying biomolecules from Raman spectra.• Formed a JV with Bottle One, LLC, which received $2 million in funding.

• Developed a water-soluble cannabidiol (CBD) emulsion for use in CBD-infused water products• Optimized CBD content for taste and incorporated defoamers and multiple natural flavor combinations.• Tested CBD potency in finished beverage products, which are now being sold in Australia.• Obtained knowledge of the regulatory status and compliance of CBD and other cannabis products.

• Atomistic MD, CCMD, aMD, and MCBD simulation studies of bimolecular protein association. Funded through the NIH and NSF (XSEDE@TACC).• Performed complex simulations of solvated aqueous and membrane proteins on large supercomputers.• Ran large-scale MD simulations of over 500,000 atoms on the Anton 2 supercomputer.• Contributed edits and patches to SDA 6.2, which were incorporated into the SDA 7 package.• Developed efficient algorithms for the calculation of transmembrane water permeabilities.• Utilized machine learning algorithms including particle swarm optimization and clustering to analyze large multiprotein complexes, residue interactions, and molecule-protein conjugates.• Calculated material properties from quantum and classical statistical mechanics such as surface tension, shear stress, reaction coefficients, and interaction energies.

I performed the total synthesis of prekinamycin and its derivatives for water-solubilization and mechanistic studies. Trained of one graduate and two undergraduate researchers during my tenure.
