As a senior member of the Major Accounts team, I manage a small number of Maintel's top / strategic accounts, collectively spending over £10m per annum and ensure that Maintel are truly positioned as a valued partner. I take time to understand business challenges, requirements & future strategies, ensuring technology solutions become an enabler to enhancing everything from internal efficiency / morale, to the number one focus of improving customer experience & satisfaction.As a baseline I ensure a high level of customer service & engagement by spending regular time on-site &/or in remote meetings, then working closely with my operations colleagues internally.     Following my year as Interim Client Director and a successful performance & experience therein, I have now re-focused on the management of my ‘own’ accounts. I've been assigned a small selection of Maintel's largest or most strategic accounts where first & foremost I take great pride in delivering a 1st class service and experience. As I have done throughout my career to date, I also have a strong focus on continuing to spend time understanding organisations business goals / strategy in an industry that never stands still and is immensely competitive. I believe in the importance of technology within retail environments & it's ability to directly impact customer service, opinions and ultimately brand loyalty in so many ways.It’s clearly important that communications are ‘always on’ and that availability of business applications (internal or customer facing) is prioritised, while it’s also imperative that customers purchasing journeys, habits, buying patterns and likes / dislikes are understood as far as possible, so that future engagements can be targeted. I also strongly believe that one size does not fit all and that deploying only the most fit for purpose technology, at the most cost effective purchase price (inc ROI) is the key.Due to the verticalised approach within Maintel, I have a strong understanding of the retail sector and the demands and opportunities for said retail organisations. This general understanding, as well as spending time to specifically understand individual organisations current position and future strategy is where I feel Maintel can add most business value via our personalised approach. At my disposal I have a strong portfolio of the most relevant technology to meet consumer demands when deployed correctly.     An opportunity arose for me to apply for an interim player/manager position & given I had been completing a 'buddying' role with some less experienced members of the team I sat in for some time & was also looking at ways to continue to develop & grow during my time at Maintel, this seemed like the perfect opportunity.I was ultimately responsible for 3 individuals with a base of ~30 accounts & had a target to retain the customer revenues we had, while also growing our business in new areas. our methodology was always to do the basics first and to ensure Maintel was delivering a fantastic customer experience to our key contacts and their wider organisation. We took time to understand the customers (at many levels) and their respective markets / strategies and aimed to deliver upon requirements to improve the way they operated.I enjoyed working together with a team and enjoyed sharing my experience and seeing them grow throughout the year we spent together. Within this time I had to deal with many facets of management (good & bad) including, a leaver very early on, recruitment, disciplinary, performance improvements, strategic account planning & more. The team were fantastic and as a group, we ended the year 137% against target with all relevant customer contracts also renewed for a further term. A fantastic & rewarding year with some excellent experience gained for me as an individual & some fantastic projects completed for our number 1 asset - our customers!
