WORLD TRADE CENTER CASES -- Brought in by regional managing partner to manage eDiscovery projects, conduct depositions, and handle other strategic assignments in defending the City of New York and its contractors in nearly 10,000 tort actions arising from the City’s rescue and recovery operations after the 9/11 Disaster at the World Trade Center. Team efforts led to favorable settlement or voluntary dismissal of virtually all claims. Conducted depositions of over 150 plaintiffs, including NYPD, FDNY, and other City agency personnel. Supervised e-discovery search and document review teams. Worked with technical specialists on use of database of over 20 million images. Took the lead on highly detailed, document-intensive summaries of day-to-day and week-to-week activities of one of the City’s four prime contractors in the debris removal project.MORTGAGE CRISIS -- Contributed as part of a team that acted as outside counsel for a national bank in a high profile, independent review of foreclosure practices, as mandated by a Consent Order between the Bank and the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. INK PLANT EXPLOSION -- Supervised outsourced attorneys in India in their first-line review of electronically-stored information, to be produced to the U.S. Chemical Safety Review Board after explosion at an ink factory in New Jersey. Led second-level review team within the firm.
