JAMES L. BLACK, PTA, ECDCSPHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT, FALL PREVENTION SPECIALIST, EVERGREEN CERTIFIED DEMENTIA SPECIALISTI quickly discovered my passion to help my community’s geriatric population recover from illness and injury. I helped to establish my father’s Rehabilitation Agency in Hemet California providing care in acute, out-patient and home settings and my father taught me that “If you work hard in gaining knowledge and apply it into patient care the business will sell itself.” I have proven this to be true over and over: I frequently receive requests from the community and bring patient referrals to organizations I contract with 1994-1997 I worked on a highly specialized wound care team at St Bernardines Medical Center in San Bernardino under Jacqueline Allen, PT, and from 1997 to 2000 worked in Acute Rehabilitation, Transitional Care, Skilled Nursing and out-patient settings gaining both Neuro and Manual Therapy skills. I easily transitioned into the home setting in 2000 with many tools in my tool chest.I have over 35 years in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with experience in all settings of care and have helped to destigmatize use of PTA’s in home health setting gaining recognition for clinical excellence, communication, documentation and follow through from supervising PT’s. My earlier experience in Wound Care is unique and my training in Neuro Development Technique enhanced my skills in working with Neurological and orthopedic diagnosis. Most recently I have received a certification as an Evergreen Certified Dementia Care Specialist. Thank you for the opportunity to provide care to our community!
