About James Blacker
I have worked in care settings and healthcare since 2008, on the back of being part of a family who have fostered over 50 children with advanced needs. Working as a care assistant in multiple settings before accomplishing BSc Nursing (Adult) in 2017.My post NMC registration experience has been predominantly Coronary Care whilst also practing as an RN in palliative care at St. Catherine's Hospice, Scarborough.I hold competencies in pacemaker procedures as a circulating nurse, Angiography recovery, heart failure management and management of acute cardiac conditions amongst an array of clinical skills including cannulation, venepuncture, CPAP, external cardiac pacing, rhythm recognition and ECG interpretation. I am a certified Advanced life support (ALS) provider and instructor with the Resus Council.Though currently working in a band 5 nurse position, I am competent to take charge of a coronary care unit or other area due to my additional clinical skill set and courses in leadership and management. I am currently undergoing training in the Mentorship update since the change in role of August 2019.
