I have a large involvement in Motorsport via Breakell Racing (www.breakellracing.co.uk)Breakell Racing is a Motorsport race team that specialises in race car preparation & maintenance, race car hire, and race car set up. I have been involved with Breakell Racing for about 19 years overall, Initially working closely with my father and in more recent years managing the team on my own. The team has currently expanded to employ several part time staff members. We currently run and hire races that compete in the Sports Prototype Cup, Radical Challenge, Ginetta Junior championship, VLN and TCR UK We have a proven track record of success, and most recently managed to win the 2020 Sports Prototype Cup, and the 2019 Birkett 6 hour race.Over the years in this roll I have worked on various aspects of race car engineering as part of my involvement in the team, such as designing parts for the race cars we have been working on, such as suspension push rods, brake disc bells, aero foil support frames, optimised suspension and chassis settings, engine and gearbox rebuilds, GRP bodywork repair and manufacture, Part fabrication.More recently the race team has diversified to race car hire and we currently hire race cars to racers to compete in at weekends. During my time working within the team I have performed tasks such as:• Suspension set up, repair work, Race car preparation, Engine and gear box changes, and all other general maintenance work. • Raw materials and parts ordering, Track day organisation, acquiring sponsorship funds, and marketing.• Management of race hire bookings, periodic maintenance work of hire cars, and customer management.• Race event management and logistics including management and booking of part time staff/mechanics at each event, transport of race cars to and from circuits, race strategy during endurance races, race driver coaching.I am also an ARDS Qualified Race instructor

My role at Assystem is Senior Mechanical Engineer, working on SCP Project through the AXIOM consortium. My work requires the delivery of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the Design Input Requirements, work package management, and independent checker of design calculations, DPD & Manufacturing Drawings, and project documentation. Day to day management of small team of design engineers - work packages assigned are encast floor liner design and cabinet/glovebox design.• Modelling of assemblies and components and Drawing creation using Autodesk Inventor • Checking of 3D models and drawings created in Autodesk Inventor• Autodesk inventor project administrator – Provide help/support to Inventor users within design team, Vault administrator, Inventor template updating and modification.• Manual calculation and project planning.• Checking of design deliverables, drawings, and project documentation.• Implementation of UK H&S legislation and appropriate British, and European, standards.• Composition of Project documentation such as, Risk Assessments, Out Line Installation Method Statements, etc.

My current role at NWP is Senior Mechanical Engineer, working on Nuclear based projects within the nuclear design team.My work requires the delivery of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the Design Input Requirements, work package management, and independent checker of design calculations, DPD & Manufacturing Drawings, and project documentation. I have worked on various major Sellafield projects while working at NWP, these projects are SMF Hatch Doors, BEP and SDP. I was allocated two systems to lead on the SDP project. These systems where bogie transfer systems, however I was also tasked to work on harmonised bogie drive methods and through wall recover systems as part of this assignment.I have worked on more Sellafield work through the DSA. I was the mechanical lead for the BEP in-cell handler manual recovery equipment detailed design phase. This piece of work required me to lead a team of 4 engineers to deliver detailed and manufacturing design packages including all drawings, 3D models, and full sets of documentation and checking of all deliverables. The value of this project was £450k. I was also tasked as the Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for manufacturing design package delivery of BEP Waste Treatment Cell Containment Door remedial works.My most Recent Assignment at NWP is as Engineering design support for Intelligent Customer (BEPDT). My role at NES was Lead Mechanical Engineer, working on various Nuclear based projects.As part of my role I was Responsible for the delivery of Mechanical Design packages. Reporting directly to the Principal or Responsible Engineers. My work required the Delivery of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the Design Input Requirements and Provide Engineering Support to manufacture right through to client handover. Areas of work within each project include Mechanical handling equipment, lifting gear, and pressure vessel design, although due to the sensitive nature of each project the exact details of my work cannot be disclosed.Key responsibilities at NES are listed below: • Interpretation of Design Input Requirements into fit for purpose solutions. • Production and verification of fit for purpose calculations.• Project delivery in accordance with allocated budgeted cost and timescales • Day to day management of the Engineering design team of 7 people• Supervision, verification and production of project design deliverables • Design co-ordination with other engineering disciplines • Implementation of UK H&S legislation and appropriate British, European, and American design standards • Incorporation of external specialist engineering design information • Identification and inclusion of bought out plant and equipment • Presentation and/or participation at HAZOP and Design Reviews • Liaison with Manufacturing, Testing and Commissioning personnel to ensure design optimisation • Incorporating the requirements of the Operating, Maintenance and Recovery features within the design. • Implementation of Design Change Control

Employed as a Senior Design engineer at Fort Vale Engineering Limited / Fort Vale Nuclear Limited. Responsibilities are design, development, calculation, analysis, and project management of Fort Vale Standard, Bespoke and Nuclear Products. Worked on Mechanical handling Design Projects for Nuclear Based customers such as Nuclear Engineering Services Limited (NES) and National Nuclear Laboratories (NNL) as well as design work on Fort Vale Standard products. Fort Vale Engineering standard products projects required me to perform design modifications to current pressure vessel man lid designs, hazardous environment relief valves, butterfly valves, and API Couplers to be supplied to the petrol chemical industry worldwide. Also worked on a new duel flow relief valve for American Rail Tanker Customers. All design work for American based companies has required me to work to the strict ASME codes for the design of pressure equipment, design for Hazardous environments and for European customers design to the Euro codes.Fort Vale Nuclear work has required me to work on mechanical handling projects such as the hydraulic installation Trolleys, fuel and waste storage and categorisation devices, and Lifting attachments.My involvement in all Nuclear projects for Fort Vale Nuclear have required me to do Design work such as: modelling of assemblies and components using Creo2 (Pro Engineer), creating drawings for Manufacture and Approval, bills of materials for all components and assemblies, manual calculation to analysis stress and defection levels and optimise the structural integrity of components, Finite Element and Fatigue analysis using Creo 2 Simulate (Mechanica) to verify manual calculations, Project Planning to make sure the correct resources are used and tasks are completed on time in order to meet manufacturing deadlines.

Employed as a Senior Design Engineer in the R&D and Engineering departments. Involved in projects to develop the current positive displacement piston pump design to enable better accessibility of components during maintenance programs, manufacturing cost reduction through redesign of pump systems, and future pump product development. R&D work at RMI required me to perform Finite Element Analysis and Fatigue studies on current pump components as well as alterations to component design using Solidworks Simulation, project planning using Microsoft Project, and hand based calculation. As part of a cost reduction project it was necessary to analysis and review the current high pressure emulsion and water pump systems in order to identify any cost savings that could be achieved throughout the manufacturing process. The role also required me to Project manage production order projects for customers with mines in Russia and China, making sure all contract documents, manufacturing drawings, bill of materials, and quality procedures were present and correct, and each project was completed on time.

Employed as a Design/Project Engineer in the design department, responsible for the day to day running of the design department as well as design, calculation, and project management work. Other responsibilities required me to plan and delegate design work to the other members of the design team, process jobs coming into the design office, and liaise with customers to discuss their requirements. I was involved in Lifting Gear, and general mechanical handling design projects such as:• Jib cranes, Lifting Davits design for the water treatment industry.• Runway and fixed gantry lifting systems, overhead powered cranes and package lifting equipment for gas turbines manufactured by companies such as Rolls Royce, Siemens Industrial Turbo Machinery Ltd, etc.• Lifting bracket design for customers such as Shell UK and testing rigs For BAE Systems. • Jib Cranes installed on the top of the reactors at Heysham and Hartlepool Nuclear Power Stations, Runway systems, and other mechanical handling equipment for Nuclear based companies such as BNS, BNFL, Urenco, and British Energy, working to various in house standards set out by each Nuclear based company, as well as British and European standards.• Design and project management work for the Pile cap Instrument Deployment Winches supplied to AMEC Nuclear for Heysham and Hartlepool Power Stations. • General engineering products such as stillages, Lifting attachments and Jigs, used on the Leyland Trucks assembly line. • Product development by composing spreadsheet based design system’s helping to cut down drawing office and manufacturing time of standard products.• Development of advanced 3D modelling techniques, performing Finite Element analysis and hand calculation.• Management of various projects from quotation through design, manufacture, completion and hand over of large orders of lifting equipment for sites such as Ashton and Fleetwood Wwtw, and other industrial based sites.
