I grew up in South Wales and qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Bristol University back in 1998. After a short period in mixed practice I have worked with dairy cattle ever since, working in Somerset and in the East Midlands. I have been lucky enough to work in frontline dairy practice at Glastonbury, in research at University of Bristol, in a consultancy laboratory for QMMS Ltd, in teaching and research at University of Nottingham and now veterinary consultancy for Map of Ag. I hold several post-graduate qualifications including a PhD from Bristol for studies into mastitis in dairy cow herds and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Diploma in Cattle Health and Production. I am recognised as a specialist in Cattle Health and Production by the Royal College and my particular interests are in preventive medicine and dairy herd health. Outside of the profession, I am married to Anna (a horse vet) and have two boys. I am a qualified rugby referee and coach at Age Grade level - although my playing days are over....
