Currently Holiday Extras’ sole software engineer for their core reservation system, which handles tens of thousands of bookings per day with 24/7 availability.I am an experienced software developer with more than two decades’ experience of working in information technology. Since 2008 I have worked remotely, from locations in both the UK and Russia.Since 2017 I have worked as a Software Engineer for Holiday Extras, using technologies such as Thoroughbred Basic, Node.js and MySQL, all running on a Linux platform, and Sumologic and Google BigQuery. Recent months have seen me specialise more in AI technologies, in particular OpenAI.For ten years prior to this I worked as a Business Analyst for Chauntry in conjunction with Holiday Extras, designing technical solutions to business problems, performing requirements analysis and data analysis, and writing code to implement the agreed approach. I believe communication to have been key to the success of the many projects Chauntry have undertaken with Holiday Extras, and I was heavily involved in those projects at all stages from planning, through to developing code, testing co-ordination, and ultimately deployment of code into live environments. The buck always stops with me and the customer is always kept fully informed of my progress and involved in any decision-making processes. Customers have expressed gratitude for my ability to apply lateral thinking to solve technical problems.My early career experience was in Unix system administration, which gives me a strong technical foundation. I am fluent in Russian, having previously lived for five years in Siberia, and from my academic career I have a strong grasp of economics, Russian politics and International Relations.
