Manage community partnerships for SPS’s 104 SPS schools and 54,000 student population. Represent Seattle Public Schools (SPS) to various audiences including Seattle School Board, Mayor’s Office, City Council, philanthropic partners, community leaders and other constituents. • Manage and support over 300 school and community partners ensuring compliance with SPS policies and procedures. • Supervise 7 central school and community partnership staff ensuring effective implementation of district goals and initiatives. • Serve as lead and principal investigator for over $1 million in Federal and private grants (US Department of Education and Gates Foundation).• Lead diverse group of internal and external family engagement stakeholders to research, audit, and conduct analysis of current practices. • Provide a menu of professional development opportunities for community partners to effectively support strategic goals (e.g. Social Emotional Learning, Family Engagement, Race & Equity, Data Use and Analysis).

Manage 15 direct and 7 indirect reports, along with overall operations and $5.7 million of a $10 million department budget in directing Community Building Unit programs. Represent Department of Neighborhoods (DON) to stakeholders that include the Mayor’s Office, City Councilmembers, community leaders and constituents. -Collaborate with other City departments to develop outreach and engagement strategies for City Comprehensive, Neighborhood Planning / Community Development, City Capital Projects, other department and mayoral initiatives.-Serve as department director’s proxy for City Executive meetings (mayor’s cabinet staff), City Council Hearings, formal events and select programs.NEIGHBORHOOD DISTRICT COORDINATOR (NDC) PROGRAM• Coach, supervise, train and support NDCs as they plan neighborhood visits, town halls and other community engagement activities on behalf of the DON Director, Mayor’s Office and other City departments.• Coordinate neighborhood planning and community development efforts in Seattle neighborhoods to inform community of upcoming projects and initiatives. COMMUNITY FUNDING PROGRAMSManage the operations and funding of the Neighborhood Matching Fund (more than $3 million annually) and Neighborhood Parks and Street Fund ($2.5 million annually)PUBLIC OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM• Oversee Public Outreach and Engagement Liaison program operations, including 40 individual POELs (individual contractors) from 20 different language groups and other historically underrepresented communities that service more than 10 City projects annually.PEOPLE’S ACADEMY FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT• Instituted the PACE program to develop grassroots community leadership in Seattle, in which 26 emerging leaders participate annually in the 12-month cohort program to learn community building, inclusive engagement, and strategies for accessing government from experts in respective fields.

Served as a project manager and advisor to HSD Director and Deputy Director on various projects and initiatives, including strategic planning for HSD Future State Planning.• Worked with HSD leadership to develop plans to implement departmental re-organization for more than 300 employees; effectively changed the department from a “funder model” to an “investor model”.• Developed workplan to introduce employees to new duties, performance goals and organizational structure.ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES / YOUNG ADULT VIOLENCE PREVENTION• Coordinated HSD’s response to reduce violence in Seattle’s young adult population (aged 18 to 30).• Collaborated with Office of Economic Development personnel to establish an interdepartmental team to leverage city resources, including DON, Mayor’s Office, OFE, Parks, Personnel and SPD.DEPARTMENT PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS• Credited with modernizing reporting systems, including creation of a balanced scorecard to track workplan items, budget, personnel and mayoral performance expectations.• Designed and facilitated scorecard training and curriculum for division directors, department leadership and staff to ensure effective system utilization.EARLY LEARNING INVESTMENTS – FAMILIES AND EDUCATION LEVY• Coordinated execution of the five Human Services Department’s (HSD) requests for investments (RFI) and $6 million in investments for the 2012-2013 school year.• Supervised the progress of ten HSD staff serving as leads in the RFI processes.• Established interdepartmental team with the Office for Education to collaboratively meet city council and Families and Levy Oversight Committee Expectations.

• Recruited and make recommendations for mayoral appointments to the city’s more than 50 boards and commissions ensuring that the commissions represent Seattle’s diverse population. • Worked in collaboration with the mayor, city council, city clerk, and 25 city staff and organizational liaisons to coordinate mayoral appointments. • Facilitated communications between the mayor’s office, departments, and commissions ensuring that each is aware of appropriate work plan and policy related items.

Organized 56 outreach events in collaboration with the Department of Neighborhoods for the Mayor’s Engage Seattle Initiative that included neighborhood visits, community roundtables and town halls for the purpose of connecting local government and other providers to more than 4000 participants in 2011.• Served as lead staff person for various mayoral initiatives, including Engage Seattle and Youth and Families.• Liaised between the Mayor's office and other departments on the Youth and Families sub-cabinet; ensured inclusion of mayoral priorities in development of strategies and projects.• Coordinated Families and Education Levy Outreach efforts with constituent groups that included community leaders working with populations most in need of city services.

Coordinated daily operations of several community centers (Rainier Community Center, Garfield Teen Life Center and Magnolia Community Center), which included programs, special events, facilities, volunteers and up to 15 union represented and non-represented staff.• Develop and implement community based recreation and cultural programs; ensured adherence to the Mayor’s priorities and direction of Parks Superintendent, including childcare, teen programs, fitness, youth athletics and senior adult programs.

• Developed a regional plug-in electric vehicle strategy with other Puget Sound area municipal stakeholders including the State Department of Transportation, City of Bellevue, King County Administration, and Puget Sound Regional Council. • Assessed the carbon emissions of Seattle automobiles for the 2009 Seattle Climate Protection Initiative: Progress Report. • Explored market demand for plug-in electric vehicles in the Seattle area and the charging station infrastructure needs for the region in order to support the advancement of advance vehicle technologies. • Produced public and internal documents to educate and inform residents about the status of electric vehicles in Seattle including press releases, FAQs, and web content.

• Researched the affects of local, state and federal climate legislation on Seattle area residents. • Worked on the behalf of the president of the US Conference of Mayors to successfully pass climate change legislation in the US House of Representatives. • Gathered and assessed regional data of potential electric vehicle consumer needs in the Puget Sound region; synthesized and presented information in reports and briefings. • Researched and recommended policies to reduce barriers to electric vehicles adoption to elected officials.
