Responsible for direct line management of a shift team of 20 multi-skilled technicians and engineers.During operational periods, I managed the operation of the sugar beet mill and refinery, combined heat and power plant, animal feed plant and water treatment systems. In factory maintenance periods I planned and supervised maintenance activities including those involving hot work, confined space work, work on chemical systems and work in DSEAR zoned areas.I coached and developed my shift team team, new graduates, apprentices and shift managers.Alongside my operational and maintenance responsibilities, I project managed small capital projects (up to £250k) and specialise in the use of fluid modelling software for pumping and pipework design.I have been trained in incident management and was part of the on-site fire and emergency response team.

Trained at both Wissington and Cantley factories, following British Sugar's challenging operations graduate training program.Learning modules focused on all aspects of managing the sugar extraction and refining process, including process theory, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, environmental and health and safety management.For the last 6 months of the training scheme, I was responsible for managing a shift team.

Worked as part of an operations support team based at British Sugar's central offices in Peterborough.Led a project trialing online moisture instrumentation and a multi-variable predictive control package to improve control of rotary animal feed driers.Provided commissioning support for control loop auditing software.Joined a project team working on the design and commissioning of a plant expansion project.Gap analysis against corporate best practice for control strategies.

Responsible for developing a database of plant information to reduce time wastage in project work. Gained a good understanding of the main unit operations in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
