I have responsibility for looking after the central treasury requirements for the Africa region. Specifically, Shell's operations in Africa look to me to provide support on Funding, FX, Cash management and Credit Support. This covers elements of both upstream and downstream business in many active areas of Shell's portfolio.

Senior dealer on a large Front Office desk. Responsibility for > $400bln of FX Flow per annum as well an extremely large cash position. Involvement in many large projects with FX and Liquidity risks, including multiple high profile acquisitions and divestment's.Business lead on a project to change the way FX and Money Market requests are sent to Treasury, Generated efficiencies in the way deals are consolidated and traded too.Responsibility for maintaining and developing external banking relationships as well as the development of new team members.

Part Shell's Front Office team in London, looking after the Groups FX and Liquidity requirements.Obtained experience in multiple FX instruments. Large use of algorithms to trade Spot and outright FX. Business lead on the project to get Shell ready for Variation Margining on the back of EMIR requirements.

After initially joining Group Treasury on a placement as part of the Finance Graduate Scheme, I was able to interview for a position and roll off of the scheme early to stay on a long term basis. I was part of a small dealing team on both a very large investment portfolio and an increasing derivative programme. I obtained significant skills in investment portfolio management and the credit risk analysis that goes alongside this. I also have experience in FX trading and interest rate hedging, as well as gaining experience in other areas of risk management.I also played a significant part in the cash forecast and cash management element to Treasury and gained experience in contractual documentation such as GMRAs and ISDAs.

As part of the graduate scheme within TfL my role varied on a placement by placement basis. I undertook roles in the following disciplines; Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, Project Accounting, Internal Audit, Business Planning and Reporting and Group Treasury. These roles have also taken me too many different business areas, covering Surface Transport, London Underground and Corporate Finance. The various roles have provided me with many different skills that I am looking to display and build upon now settled in position. My time with TfL also provided me with the challenge of studying alongside work.Further to this, during the Olympics, TfL gave me the opportunity to volunteer. This meant working out on the front line helping the public with any queries they may have had. This experience was very enjoyable and something I am scheduled to continue during the Paralympics.

This role involved me auditing client’s transactions with their suppliers and recovering any profits owed. It provided me with a whole new set of skills, as well as improving my time management and self planning skills. Whilst with CRC I was assigned the responsibility of the client's largest supplier, even though I was only there on an Industrial Placement year from University.
