Independent consultant contracted by workers' compensation insurance carriers to conduct Loss Prevention surveys.

My work as a Safety Services (Loss Prevention) Consultant included verifying underwriting information, assessing the risks of policyholders in my territory, and recommending physical, administrative, and risk management measures. The objective of this position is to prevent injuries as well as minimize losses.

My work as the Risk Manager was to manage Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto, and Theft claims. I would file all claims and work with insurers’ claims adjusters to quickly resolve. I was also responsible for obtaining and organizing certificates of insurance for all vendors and subcontractors. Every month I created talking points and sign-in sheets for safety meetings and would distribute to the regional offices. Also monthly, I would conduct a two to three hour safety training for all new franchisees. In January 2012 I was also given the responsibility of Fleet Manager.

As the Safety and Loss Control Manager I would work with clients to assess risks from a safety standpoint. I would conduct safety surveys, develop service calendars based on my findings, and provide safety trainings. Trainings included but were not limited to First Aid/CPR, Defensive Driving (both passenger and professional truck driver 4 hour courses), forklift operating, back injury prevention, personal protective equipment, heat illnesses, and power tool usage. On occasion, I would compose reports the agents would use when bringing the clients to the insurance market.

On occasion I would provide general safety trainings like back injury prevention, slip/trip/fall prevention, and I would conduct safety seminars multiple times a year throughout Louisiana.
