Responsible for high volume manufacturer of digital satellite products including receivers and encoders with annual sales of $600 million. Manufactured all set top receivers for PRIMESTAR while General Manager of the General Instruments manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico. Responsible for New Product Introduction, Field Testing, Design Feedback and Customer Satisfaction; sales and production forecasts; all manufacturing and operations functions at both the San Diego Engineering Center and the high-volume Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing site in Puerto Rico. Increased factory output from 2500 to 5000 direct satellite receivers per day with 12 SMT lines. Reduced headcount from 1200 to 900. Subsequently closed Puerto Rico manufacturing facilities and outsourced production to four product focused facilities in Tennessee, Fremont and San Jose, California, and Nogales, Mexico. This resulted in an annual savings of $100 million dollars, a 400% increase in stock price, and positioned the company for acquisition by Motorola.
