Co-founded Emulate as a privately-held spinout from the Wyss Institute at Harvard. Based on our Organs-on-Chips technology, we've created a new living Human Emulation System, which is being used to enable researchers to better understand biology and predict how diseases, medicines, chemicals, and foods affect human health.As CEO, I work with our executive team and Board of Directors to establish the business and scientific operations to support a growing community of customers and partners. Based on our strategic long-term vision and mission, I lead our fundraising, strategic planning and commercial operations, which includes investor relations, business development, legal, marketing, sales, field teams, manufacturing, and supply chain. The Company’s finance, science, and engineering leadership report directly to me and I work with these executives to build a scalable business infrastructure that will meet our commercial goals.Under my leadership Emulate has raised $120M in equity capital and achieved over $36M in revenues from collaborations, services, and product sales. Emulate has grown from a founding team of 18 people to over 100+ people with a growing team of talented leadership, product developers, marketing & sales, and customer support. Most notably, Emulate has made the transition from collaboration based revenues to high-quality, recurring revenues from product & services which is poised to grow considerably over the next five years.

Worked with Dr. Don Ingber (founder of the organs-on-chip technology) and Dr. Geraldine Hamilton (led the translation of the technology) to develop the business and commercial strategy for Organs-on-Chips technology, with the goal of launching a startup within 3 years. Developed business plan and strategy, established commercial relevant intellectual property portfolio, conducted business development with industry clients, managed investor relations, conducted fundraising & secured investment, and developing strategic partnerships. This work culminated in in the formation of Emulate Inc., which holds the exclusive license to Organs-on-Chips technology from Harvard University, and the closing of $12 million in Series A investment, which enabled the operational launch of the Company in January 2015.

Worked with Dr. Kevin Kit Parker to translate the in vitro models of cardiac function and disease developed in his lab into a new startup. Developed company concept, created a plan for the technology, and formed the startup company, BioDais, Inc., which commercialized Dr. Parker's models into products and services.

Developed the company from a grant-supported entity to a successful contract research organization. Built company’s service portfolio, developed strategic scientific collaborations, and strategic commercial partnership. Led fundraising and steered sustainable development of the company.

Founded this scientific apparatus company that developed equipment for the isolation of primary cells from tissue. Developed the intellectual property to launch the business, established funding, and guided operation, and recruited employees.

Led Health Sciences unit’s commercial team and business development. Formed and managed commercial team to meet growth projections of the unit, in both the commercial and government sectors. Built commercial client database and worked with senior scientists to develop strategic partnerships. Expanded company's presence in developmental toxicology, drug discovery, and chemistry service markets through direct sales, partnerships, marketing and education and training programs.

Co-founded the company. Conceived and managed the business plan and strategy that led to the company’s acquisition by InVitrogen for $57M. Served on executive management team and oversaw business development team, sales & marketing, and laboratory operations. Built client base for hepatic products and services. Oversaw development of product and sales, marketing, logistics, legal and strategic partnerships.

Co-founded the company with Dr. Geraldine Hamilton. Company’s core technology was based off of BCS, Inc. platform that I designed and built during graduate school. Guided strategic development of the company, which included establishing funding, recruiting, operations, and commercial efforts. Oversaw all aspects of growth from business development to laboratory operations. Organically grew the company, which broke-even in three months and became cash-flow positive in the first year. Merged with CellzDirect.
