I worked for Texas Health and Human Services at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center for 4 & 1/2 years. I worked in the Quality Assurance Department as an Inspector IV or commonly called Program Compliance Monitor. I resigned from my position as Inspector IV (Program Compliance Monitor) November 28, 2023 to leave the United States and move overseas to Melbourne, Australia seeking to obtain a permanent visa During my time at the facility, I became proficient at writing up reports and audits which would be used for data by the State of Texas for compliance tracking. I navigated the state data programs and utilized the data and information to complete various audits. The position required me to work independently and with a team. I served on the Human Rights Committee as the interim Human Rights Officer for the facility and worked with the primary Human Rights Officer pertaining to policy, human rights, and ethics. I also provided the facility Ombudsman with monthly data as well as addressing complaints and concerns. I gained experience by sitting on ethics committees and working with administration while observing the residents' rights. Additionally, I served as the primary provider for the facility in the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership with submitting monthly Intellectual Disability and Related Condition forms for residents. Another responsibility was to communicate with the various departments to include Behavioral Health Services, Admissions, Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional Department, the Ombudsman, and administrative leadership. I gained a myriad of experience with interviewing staff to confirm policy and compliance while listening to the issues and concerns the support staff had while making sure no abuse or neglect was taking place. Additionally, this position required good communication with the residents to include the diversity of residents required different needs. I look forward to seeking a career in this field in my new home.
