I started as a field engineer where I surveyed pole, utility, and telecommunications data using Trimble devices and height sticks.Within four months I obtained an in office position whereupon I learned autoCAD in three weeks. The following three months I would field for half the week and draft permits for the other half.In the beginning of November I was promoted to project coordinator to train under a project manager.From there, I did the following:Taught, coached and led teams of fielders to obtain field dataBecame fluent in google earth and using GIS data and shapefiles to manipulate and create designs for drafters to use.Gained a rudimentary understanding of PLA and worked with experts to create pole permits from scratch. Companies I’ve created permits for include Duke energy, Virginia Power, and Wilson Energy.I have taught, coached, and led up to 4 teams of drafters to create railroad permits, controlled access permits, pole permits, city, county, and DOT permits.I have learned in one year how to manage a team to complete a project start to finish.Supervisor: Mark Stehley - (984) 352-6994
