Responsible for geotechnical QAQC at X41 and Enterprise mines. Involved, reviewing shotcrete, grout and fill lab results. Implementing shotcrete thickness monitoring using a new 3D scanning system. Organising pull testing of rock bolts and cables. Conducting CCV (critical control verification) for QAQC.Also heavily involved in the early stage assessment of a tender proposal for a new ground support contact across both Mount Isa and George Fisher Mines.

On-site at the Olovo underground lead mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Collecting data to optimise the haulage system through the application of the discrete event simulation software Haulsim. Data collection involved:- Conducting time and motion field studies.- Assessing the availability and utilisation of equipment.- Recording detailed observational notes for verification of the simulation. Preliminary analysis was conducted on-site to calibrate the Haulsim model and assessing the primary haulage constraints at varying levels in the mine. 2 days’ work experience using the Geographic Information System (Q-GIS) to digitise sites of interest for a clients potential project.Skills gained: critically evaluating sites for project suitability, self-taught use of Q-GIS.

4 weeks working alongside geologists and exploration geologists learning various new skills. Week 1 predominantly involved developing skills using ArcGIS for georeferencing and digitising maps, as well as learning to read and interpret underground mine plans, long sections and understand the various terminology used by mine geologists to describe the relationships of structures in 3D space. Weeks 2-4 involved carrying out an individual project to produce a report and present the findings to members of management within the company at the end of the internship.

Participated in the Business Innovation Program at university. Lead a team of 3 students to solve a real world business problem presented by a client company. Beefy's bar and restaurant wanted to assess local awareness and increase the footfall within the local community. As manager, I organised the collection of over 300 surveys, delegating tasks amongst members of the team in order to produce a consultancy report and present our finding to the company at the end of the 8 week project. (Skills gained: carrying out repeated systematic procedures using company databases).- Grinding and polishing samples for ore mineral analysis using a Buehler EcoMet350 Grinder Polisher to produce circular polished mounts.- Carbon coating the circular polished mounts using the Q150T Carbon Coater for SEM analysis. - Sieving and riffle splitting dry particulate material for sample preparation.- Using Microsoft excel to generate graphs and tables of sample analysis data for client reports. (Skills gained: precise data handling and representation on computer software).Additional work experience:- Given a basic rundown of how the scanning electron microscope (SEM) works.- Shown how an optical microscopy investigation technique (quantitative point counting) is carried out.
