Management of the power transmission & distribution engineering team within Burns & McDonnell, UK.

Similar role as per previous position at Sterling Power Group (Head of Surveys & Network Services), except for responsibilities now encompassing all power engineering business streams and technical teams, including Competition in Connection/ICP, and Industrial & Commercial.

Responsible for the running and strategic development of the Surveys and Network Services sections of Sterling Power Utilities (part of Sterling Power Group).As a main contractor to all UK DNOs/TNOs, the Network Services section offered a wide range of power engineering services to the Energy Supply Industry, including: detailed network and substation design, consultancy/specialist services (harmonic analysis, protection and power flow studies etc.) and large scale infrastructure construction capabilities upto 400kV. Also contracting to the UK DNOs/TNOs, along with many other clients, the Surveys section had a number of offerings, including: survey of transmission tower lines and tower bases, detection and mapping of buried utilities, topographical surveys, and we are now also branching out into the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to carry out ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys.

Management of the Network Services Project Delivery Team (Project Managers, Operational Engineers, and Craft Staff), contracting to all UK DNOs/TNOs to carry out major infrastructure projects.

Delivery of DNO major projects up to 132kV - including engineering, construction, asset replacement and plant maintenance.

Engineering and detailed design of DNO electrical power infrastructure projects and network connections up to 132kV, including production of CAD drawings and all technical studies/design documentation. Responsibilities included: major substation detailed design (physical layouts and protection/control/SCADA interfacing); protection scheme design; secondary and primary system network planning; and technical authoring and consultancy.
