As an Ammunition Technician in the British Army, my expertise covers explosives and everything associated with ammunition.The trade requires good self-discipline, being capable of working with the minimum of supervision having a keen eye for detail, and therefore being good with your hands.I am responsible for maintaining every type of ammunition in use throughout the Army, from SA80 rifle clips to anti-aircraft guided missiles, and I have ensured the safe storage of ammunition across the world including the UK, Belize and Afghanistan.As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) No.1 Operator currently working for 11 EOD Regt, Royal Logistic Corps, my expertise also covers how to make safe everything from guided weapons, to conventional bombs, to Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).Working with hi-tech remote-controlled robots, as bomb disposal experts we protect both the UK domestic population by providing counter terrorist EOD support to civilian authorities, and we also protect our troops deployed overseas by detecting and disposing of mines, unexploded ammunition and IEDs.Having also had experience in running Squadron level training packages, training candidates from all three UK Services to conduct Joint Service level Improvise Explosive Device Disposal with the UK Mainland. In addition have been employed training and assessing International students at the same level.
