My experience ranges from consensual transactions such as refinancing, recapitalisation or the disposal of non-core assets through to the use of formal tools such as the restructuring plan. Our team prides itself on creating and delivering solutions in even the most challenging situations and has expertise across all key sectors. I have particular experience acting for clients in hospitality and leisure, retail, real estate, energy, financial services, healthcare, travel and aviation, manufacturing, heavy industry and fin tech, amongst others. I sit on the committees for DLA Piper’s retail and hospitality and leisure sector groups.Highlights include advising on:- the Restructuring Plan successfully proposed by Revolution Bars, alongside an associated equity raise on AIM and refinancing;- the Restructuring Plan successfully proposed by Fitness First, delivering a financial and operational turnaround for the group despite significant opposition;- the refinancing of Camerons Breweries, acting for Sandton Capital Partners;- the accelerated sale of online fashion retailer, Missguided;- the Energy Supply Administration of Bulb Energy;- the wind down of Cargologicair, a cargo airline impacted by UK sanctions;- the accelerated sale of Gieves & Hawkes;- the first Restructuring Plan proposed by an SME, Houst Limited;- a joint venture between a global clothing brand and a listed UK retailer to streamline the brand’s UK presence to online, click and collect and other D2C channels and wind down its UK store portfolio;- the disposal of a series of hotel portfolios with a value of >£700m on behalf of a global PE Real Estate investor;- the financial and operational turnaround of restaurants and bars group Drake & Morgan through interlocking CVA's;- the corporate rescue of historic British retailer, Clarks Shoes;- the accelerated sale of Gourmet Burger Kitchen to Boparan;- the recapitalisation of a high profile global payment services group;- the insolvency of Thomas Cook;- the recapitalisation and divestment of Bibby Offshore via a scheme of arrangement;- numerous phases of the restructuring of UK Coal;- the rescue of part of the legacy EUME business of King & Wood Mallesons, maintaining the firm’s presence in key European jurisdictions;- the financial and operational restructuring of LA Fitness Group including twin, interlocking CVA's.
