The majority of my experiences come from my college career studying at both the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, with the latter being only for one semester. Over the course of my pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Psychology, I have had extensive experience with analysis of peer-reviewed journals and the synthesis of accompanying research papers, alongside a varied selection of courses I have taken, including but not limited to: Cognitive Neuroscience, Medical Sociology, Foundations of Perception, and Developmental Psychology from Birth to Young Adulthood. I also feel that I possess good critical thinking skills and overall thoughtfulness in regards to interactions with others. As for my experience in Japan, I had volunteered as an assistant native speaker for multiple English Communication classes consisting of ESL students and I took a class entirely focused on teaching English as a foreign language. In taking that class, I tutored a Japanese student who knew English at an advanced level and created a corresponding Learner Profile, similar to what is required as a part of TESOL certificate training. Having lived in Nagasaki for three months and studying the language for over 3 years at this point, I feel that my Japanese proficiency level hovers between JLPT N4 and N3 based on study alone and no test metrics. However, I plan on continuing my study of Japanese and want to eventually pass the JLPT N2.
