I have always enjoyed helping people. My career has been a gradual migration from accounting and record keeping to technical support. I imagine myself one day working in database administration or perhaps application support. The right company for me is one which invests in its own employees, has a strong social mission, and appreciates commitment and loyalty. While working in a records department, the company was migrating from microfilm. There was really no one on this team with the skill set to handle such a thing. I was happy to volunteer. I was given free latitude to coordinate with IT, and train my department. I was in my element, and management could tell. They arranged for me to move into Desktop Services. After a few years, I've reached a point where no ticket can beat me. I’ve always been the happy person who comes to work with a smile on his face. I’m a positive force on any team I’ve ever been a part of. I’m known for my weird humor, my humility, my encouragement, but mostly my willingness to do any job, especially if it’s something that others would rather not do. This tends to spill outside of my department such that I work well and closely with other support departments. I’ve found that I most enjoy helping people who feel as if they are “technologically challenged.” Whenever possible, I like to leave them with some tidbit or improvement in their process that they had never dreamed possible. I hope to get back into this type of environment again. I like working in medium sized companies of about 400-500 employees. Hopefully I will find a company with a strong social mission with lots of activities for me to volunteer for. I would love this company to have programs to invest in their own employees. I also really enjoy: Working with excel spreadsheets. The more functions, formulas, buttons and macros the better.Solving problems by use of event logs, obscure application logs, and registry settings. Anything Kofax related.
