I have an interest in waterway management such as river restoration. I have been volunteering at the Staffordshire wildlife trust since 2014. During my time as a volunteer I have developed my skills in woodland, heathland and waterway management. I am hoping to study natural sciences at university majoring in environmental science. I hope to then apply this to river restoration and management. During my time at university I have been keen focus on the Rivers modules offered to me and GIS focused modules. This has given me a strong understanding of river systems and management/ restoration. The opportunity to study and use GIS has proved to be very useful as it now gives me the ability to use GIS to inform river management. My final project has been based upon the use of INSAR and other GIS to understand the health of peat lands in the East Anglian fens.
