Product Engineer
CurrentResearch, investigate, develop and implement design changes for improving manufacturability and or cost-reduction of existing products.Work with a design team to develop new products from concept to final roll-out and implementation of product improvements after release.Work with manufacturing team to develop and improve manufacturing fixturing.Communicate with other departments to implement cost-saves and design improvements.Utilization of quick turnaround prototyping using 3D printed parts and lasercut sheet metal.Conduct simple tolerance studies to evaluate tolerance stack up issues on parts to improve fit-up and operation of assemblies.Develop, operate, and maintain basic test fixtures and equipment.Working with PLC ladder code and operate PLC units for endurance cycling test parts.Upkeep and organization of a simple test lab.Drive a forklift to access and store engineering parts and tooling as part of test lab operation.Work with outside vendors on tool and part specifications or design.Work alongside the purchasing department to source parts for improvements and R&D.Conduct first article inspection on new purchased parts.Coordinate with the technical support team to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in the field to provide solutions.Write instructions and parts lists for repairs in the field.Technical writing of product operation and service manuals including product operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, parts lists, and exploded views.Design with sheet metal, machined parts, welded parts (tig, mig, spot).Conduct regular product risk assessments, maintain document control, revision control, evaluate and complete CAPAs, change orders, etc.Familiar with quality systems and regulations (FDA, ISO, CE)CPR, first aid trained
