Working in a centralised unit in the Front Office (‘FO’) with specialist insurers in the area of Political Risk and Structured Trade Credit (e.g. Lloyds of London Syndicates and other private insurance companies). Main responsibilities include:• Procuring Comprehensive and Political Risk Insurance policies and Unfunded Risk Participations for Structured Finance transactions to meet the Bank’s goal of reducing risk weighted assets and minimise risk concentrations; and, significantly contributing to the syndication process by functioning as an alternative risk distribution platform.• Structuring and approving all insurance policies by selecting appropriate insurance counterparties and ensuring the policies are Basel II compliant and consistent with the insured loan documentation in order to save capital and reduce the Bank’s exposure through risk transfer to rated insurance companies.• Acting as the focal contact for all insurance related matters. Managing a €1.75bn insurance portfolio on assets totalling €3.3bn covering a variety of sectors globally which include Debt Markets, Commodity Finance, Financial Institutions, Infrastructure, Asset Securitisation, Corporate Finance and Energy. • Working closely with Origination to position the bank to win and execute new transactions, thus reducing the Bank’s net exposure to meet credit approval conditions. Additionally, this also involves helping with the portfolio management of the bank's existing performing assets.• Overseeing the overall insurance process to ensure all timetables are met, from the initial enquiry stage (via Insurance Brokers) through to the binding of the insurance policies and to maturity. This includes the ongoing administration of the policy, i.e. reviewing and adjusting premium schedules, authorising insurance premiums, managing waiver requests with insurance companies and signing off bound insurance policies on behalf of the bank (authorised ‘A’ signatory for WestLB).

Part of a FO credit team working for Structured Finance and on behalf of Debt Markets, covering a portfolio of FI client groups in Emerging Markets (e.g. Russia, Turkey and China) and Developed Markets (US and UK). The department is tasked with steering the credit process and the management of the global trading lines in order to provide Country Managers, Originators, FI coverage teams and Product Groups Sales with the requested credit limits for their business. Main responsibilities include:• Acting as the primary point of contact for all counterparty enquires which involves conducting analysis and screening of transactions, before presenting them to Credit Risk Management for discussion, with respect to credit, market, counterparty, legal risks and credit policy. This also involves assessing solutions for risk mitigations which includes initiating the legal process for counterparty trading agreements including ISDA/CSA/GMRA, exploreing Comprehensive and Political Risk Insurance.• Writing credit limit applications for the front office which are presented to the team head/ department head/ global head for sign off, depending upon the approval level (i.e. Credit Committee or Managing Board). • Interacting with the FO, Credit and Market Risk Management concerning limit approvals, limit excesses, regulatory exposure, exposure at default and country limit/ exposure issues. This also requires the monitoring of exposures, management and allocation of counterparty credit lines to resolve/prevent excesses and material deviations from the bank’s credit policy.• Other tasks include account openings (e.g. KYC), producing deal/ client related memos for the Managing Board and the Supervisory Risk Committee; supporting the relationship managers in client visits and visit preparation.• Core Products include: Loans (Syndicated and Club Loans), Money Market, Trade Finance, Loan Trading, Forfaiting, Derivatives, FX, Repo, and Bonds.

• Drafting of trade documentation for vanilla CDS and Index products (e.g. iTraxx and CDX). Working with the FO, MO and settlements teams to finalising and resolve outstanding trade confirmations via DTCC, and directly with counterparties (e.g. Barclays, JPM, Deutsche etc), chasing-up trades problems and answering client queries. Compiling and distributing a weekly report regarding outstanding trade volumes to meet Fed’s targets.• Design and development of a user manual for documentation procedures on companywide systems.• Backloading large portfolios of confirmed trades onto the DTCC Trade Warehouse system and resolving trade breaks.• Operating team leader in the absence of senior management. • Training new graduates how to use the client’s systems.• Assisting with the co-ordination and running of weekly team meetings with the client to discuss ongoing/ current issues in trade processing and to ensure deadlines were met. UAT testing and system testing of batch amendments of CDS trade bookings.• Reporting to senior management of the company (based in London) with regard to the progress of the projects and managing the client’s expectations.
