James Fairman trained as a soprano singer for 5 years at Boston Stump. He then learnt piano and percussion where he takes a keen interest.In the early 90's, before entering into property he worked for an exclusive high end design and manufacturing consultancy, goldsmiths and manufacturing business in Holborn whilst studying business management at Westminster. Clients were well known.He has 5 "A" levels, a Degree in Surveying and Management, has a City and Guilds in Welding and Motor Vehicle Restoration and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as a Member and was granted a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents in 1995.He is a Chartered Valuation Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Ratings Surveyor and a specialist in the repair and preservation of historic buildings, as well as a qualified mechanic, just like the beloved Queen. He has a wide ranging experience in the Real Estate field having worked for firms of Chartered Surveyors over a 30 year period as well as owning his own practice. Former employees include Knight Frank and Savills.James founded Poyntons Consultancy in 2007 after 15 years in the field. He leads a specialist team of experienced, qualified staff looking after the specialist needs of clients including pension funds, Charities Commission Act valuation for religious organisations, developers and individual families.Day to day activities include commercial agency transactions, development advice, acquisitions, residential sales and valuation, commercial and residential management, professional services including expert witness reports, Urban capacity studies for Local Authorities and Historic England, marketing appraisals, financial business management, strategic planning, both at a corporate and local level..James has developed a structured system for calculating the wasted taxable space above retail property that could be used for residential conversion in historic market towns and cities, and is currently under instruction by various Districts to produce bespoke Urban Capacity Studies for Town Centers under threat for internet sales and out of town retail shopping developments.
